Each student will do a team presentation that consists of a summary of their findings from their individual papers during Session Six. Each Learning Team should plan on presenting for 15 minutes and allow 5 minutes for questions and answers. Presentation must be cohesive and all countries represented should flow together as being part of the same region. This may also be done as an individual presentation at the discretion of the faculty.

Creativity is expected – Powerpoint is one presentation tool but try to incorporate more interesting and creative ways of presenting your findings.

For online students: please video/ record your presentation for uploading into the Canvas system. This can be done in teams – all countries within a selected region.

Please see rubric for assessment items.

Please also follow written report guidelines and APA requirements for both formatting and sources (details may be found at http://www.apastyle.org (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.). Paper length should be 9-12 pages for the body (excluding charts, appendices, references / bibliography, etc.).  Five regional global blocks have been identified for this project – The European Union, Southeast Asia, Asia, Central America and the Caribbean, and South America.

During Session One, each team will choose one of the global regions below for the Team’s Project Component. Each team member will then select a country from within that block for his/her Individual Research paper/ project.

 European Union

Southeast Asia (ASEAN countries)

Asia (China, India, Philippines, Japan etc.)

South America

Central America & Caribbean

The Research Project and Paper will be in two parts – an Individual research paper and drafts (200 points), and a Learning Team (or Individual) Presentation (100 points).

The Research Project relates to a company’s global expansion into a new country/ market. To do this, students will conduct analyses pertaining to the country, external and internal factors; cultural and ethical issues that the company may encounter, develop strategies for entry mode, structure and other systems.

Recommendations regarding product/service adaptation as well as marketing methods are also expected.

  • Each student is to select a specific product or service with an existing company that is considering global expansion into a new country.

Students will be placed in small teams at the faculty’s discretion. Each team will select a geographic region that consists of various countries. Each student will choose a country from the region selected by the team. Each team member must select a different country within that region. The country each student selects is the one that will be the target for market entry.

The research paper must be 12-15 pages in length, excluding charts, appendices, references and cover pages. References pages must have a minimum of 12 good quality sources – peer reviewed journal articles, business journals and other academic/ scholarly resources.
